This User Agreement governs the specific obligations and expectations between you and Rex as an active user of the platform. It works alongside our
Terms of Service and
Privacy Policy. By using Rex, you agree to all three documents.
1. About Rex
Rex is an AI-powered iOS study platform designed to help students learn more effectively. Rex provides:
- AI Tutor: a conversational large language model (LLM) tutor that answers questions, explains concepts, and engages in educational dialogue.
- Study Boards: interactive digital canvases where you can organize notes, charts, whiteboards, and study widgets.
- Whiteboard Tools: free-form drawing and annotation tools for visual learning.
- Chart Widgets: interactive subject-specific visual learning widgets (e.g., math graphs, science diagrams).
- Voice Features: voice dictation for input and AI text-to-speech that reads responses aloud.
- Note-taking Tools: digital notepads integrated with AI assistance.
- Recordings: an audio recorder that captures a lecture or study session and transcribes it for you.
- An In-App Browser: a filtered web browser you can place on a board so research happens beside your work.
- The Community Store: charts published by other users that you can use and remix, and a way to publish your own.
- Shared Boards: the ability to invite other people into a board to view or edit it with you.
Rex is an educational tool and is not a substitute for professional instruction, tutoring services, or academic counseling.
2. Your Commitments as a User
By using Rex, you make the following commitments to us:
- You will use Rex only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms.
- You will provide truthful and accurate information when registering and using the Service.
- You will not misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
- You will respect the intellectual property of Rex and third parties.

- You understand that Rex is an AI-powered tool and that AI outputs require your own critical evaluation.
3. Acceptable Use Policy
Rex may be used for the following purposes:
- Studying, reviewing, and understanding academic material across any subject.
- Creating and organizing personal study notes, diagrams, and boards.
- Using the AI tutor to ask questions, practice problem-solving, and receive explanations.
- Using voice dictation and having responses read aloud while you study.
- Exploring interactive chart and visual learning widgets for educational enrichment.
Rex is designed for personal, non-commercial use. Use of Rex for commercial tutoring services, resale, or any for-profit purpose without our written consent is prohibited.
4. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension or termination, and may expose you to legal liability:
- Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code or model weights of any part of Rex.
- Using Rex to generate, store, or distribute any content that is illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, or violates the rights of any third party.
- Using Rex to generate content that harasses, bullies, or harms any individual or group.
- Using automated scripts, bots, or programs to interact with Rex outside of normal App usage.
- Attempting to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of Rex's systems or networks.
- Bypassing or attempting to bypass any authentication or access controls in Rex.
- Sharing your account credentials with others or creating accounts on behalf of others without authorization.
- Using Rex to generate content that violates export control laws or sanctions regulations.
- Using Rex to infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other proprietary right of any party.
- Transmitting any content that contains viruses, Trojan horses, or other harmful code.
- Engaging in any activity that places an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on Rex's infrastructure.
- Impersonating Rex, our employees, or other users.
5. AI Tutor Conduct Standards
When using Rex's AI tutor, you agree to the following conduct standards:
5.1 What You May Ask
- Academic questions across all subjects (math, science, history, literature, coding, etc.).
- Requests for explanations, summaries, definitions, or step-by-step walkthroughs of concepts.
- Practice problems and worked examples.
- Brainstorming or outlining ideas for essays or projects.
5.2 What You May NOT Ask
- Requests for instructions to create weapons, dangerous substances, malware, or other harmful materials.
- Requests designed to generate content that is sexually explicit, violent, or exploitative, especially involving minors.
- Requests to impersonate real individuals in a deceptive or harmful way.
- Requests to generate disinformation, fake news, or fraudulent documents.
- Requests that attempt to override or "jailbreak" the AI's safety guidelines.
- Requests for personal information about third parties.
5.3 AI Limitations You Acknowledge
- The AI tutor can and does make mistakes. It may "hallucinate" — generating plausible-sounding but factually incorrect information.
- The AI may have a knowledge cutoff date and may not be aware of the most recent events or research.
- AI-generated content should be verified against authoritative sources before use in academic work or any consequential decision.
- Rex is not responsible for any errors in AI output or for decisions you make based on AI output.
6. Voice and Microphone Features
Rex includes voice dictation and text-to-speech features. By enabling these features, you agree that:
- You grant Rex permission to access your device's microphone solely for the purpose of capturing voice input while you are dictating.
- Dictation: speech you dictate is transcribed on your device. The audio is not retained after it becomes text and is never uploaded to our servers.
- Saved recordings are different. When you deliberately record a lecture or a session, you are creating a file: the audio and its transcript are saved for you. When you are signed in the transcript syncs to your account so it is not lost with the device; the audio file stays on your device unless you turn on uploading for that recording. Either way it is private to you, and deleting a recording deletes both the audio and the transcript. Transcription runs on your device wherever the language allows it; where iOS cannot transcribe a language locally it falls back to Apple's speech service, and that audio goes to Apple.
- Recording other people is your responsibility. Consent laws differ by state and country, and some require every person present to agree. You will not record where recording is prohibited by law, by your institution, or by the venue, and you will obtain consent wherever it is required. Rex gives you the tool; it does not give you permission.
- On-device text-to-speech is handled locally on your device. The generated audio output is not transmitted anywhere.
- You can revoke microphone access at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
7. Boards, Whiteboards, and Widgets
Rex's boards system allows you to create, organize, and save study content. You acknowledge that:
- Your boards are saved to our cloud servers (Supabase) and associated with your account. Loss of your account may result in loss of board data not backed up locally.
- Rex is not responsible for any loss of data resulting from accidental deletion, app crashes, sync errors, or account termination. We recommend periodically exporting important content.
- Board content you create remains your property, but you grant Rex the technical license necessary to store and sync it as described in our Privacy Policy.
- We may impose reasonable storage limits on accounts and reserve the right to notify users who exceed those limits.
- Deleting is recoverable for 30 days. A deleted board or recording moves to Recently Deleted and can be restored for 30 days, after which it is gone for good and cannot be recovered by you or by us. Deleting your whole account skips that window entirely.
- If you share a board, you are choosing to show its contents to whoever you invite, and an invite link works for whoever holds it until it is used or revoked. A collaborator with edit permission can change or delete what is on that board, and when two people edit the same thing at once the later change wins. Revoke access whenever you want; it stops future access, it does not undo what someone has already seen or copied.
8. The In-App Browser
Rex's browser exists so that looking something up does not mean leaving your board. It is a real browser, and using it carries real obligations:
- Rex forces search engines' family filters on and blocks a list of adult and unsafe sites. This is a genuine safeguard and it is not a guarantee. If something objectionable gets through, please report it to rexstudyapp@gmail.com so we can block it.
- You will not attempt to bypass, disable, or work around the content filter, the blocklist, or any other safeguard, including through proxies, redirects, or embedded content.
- You will not use the browser to reach unlawful material, to infringe anyone's rights, or to break the terms of a site you visit.
- What you do on a website is between you and that website. Rex neither controls nor endorses any site you reach, and we are not party to anything you sign up for, buy, or upload there.
- Files you download are not scanned by Rex. Treat them the way you would treat a download in any other browser.
- Your browsing history, cookies, and site logins stay on your device. Rex does not collect them.
9. Account Security Obligations
You are responsible for the security of your account. Specifically:
- Use a strong, unique password for your Rex account. Do not reuse passwords from other services.
- Do not share your login credentials with anyone, including friends, family, or classmates.
- Log out of Rex on shared or public devices.
- Notify us immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised at rexstudyapp@gmail.com.
- You are liable for all activity that occurs under your account, including unauthorized activity resulting from your failure to maintain account security.
10. Content Standards
Any content you create, store, or share within Rex must comply with the following standards:
- Legal: content must not violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
- Non-infringing: content must not infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property right of any third party. Copyright owners may report infringing content under our Copyright & DMCA Policy; repeat infringers lose publishing privileges and may have their accounts terminated.
- Non-harmful: content must not be designed to harass, threaten, or harm any individual or group.
- Privacy-respecting: content must not contain personal information of others without their consent.
- Accurate representation: content must not misrepresent its source or author.
11. Academic Integrity
Rex is designed to help you understand and learn material — not to replace your own thinking. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of Rex complies with your educational institution's honor code and academic integrity policies. Rex:
- Does not monitor or report your usage to educational institutions.
- Is not responsible for any academic disciplinary consequences resulting from your use of AI-generated content.
- Recommends that you always disclose AI assistance in your academic work where required by your institution.
12. Subscription and Billing
If you subscribe to a paid tier of Rex:
- All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. Rex does not have access to your payment card information.
- Rex has one paid plan, Pro, available at $12.99 per month or $99.99 per year. Both give you the same tools and the same daily allowance; the only difference is how often you are billed.
- What separates the tiers is your daily AI allowance — 50,000 tokens on Free and 300,000 on Pro, reset each day. Reaching it pauses the tutor until the next day. It does not touch your boards, notes, or recordings, and every other tool keeps working.
- By subscribing, you authorize Apple to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
- To cancel, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- You will not receive a prorated refund for unused time in a billing period upon cancellation.
- Rex reserves the right to change the features included in any subscription tier with reasonable notice.
- If you dispute a charge, contact Apple Support directly. Rex cannot process refunds.
13. Feedback and Suggestions
We welcome feedback about Rex. If you submit ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback ("Feedback") to us, you agree that:
- Your Feedback is voluntary and you are not expecting any compensation for it.
- Rex may use your Feedback for any purpose, including to improve Rex, without any obligation to you.
- Rex will own all intellectual property rights in any improvements or features developed from your Feedback.
14. App Updates and Changes
Rex is continuously developed and improved. We may:
- Release updates that change, add, or remove features at any time.
- Require you to update the App to continue using certain features.
- Modify or discontinue any feature, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice.
- Change the AI models powering the tutor without notice.
Rex is not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of any feature or the Service.
15. Termination by You
You may stop using Rex at any time. To permanently delete your account and all associated data:
- Open the App, go to the Profile tab, and tap Delete Account. After you confirm, your account and all your boards, chats, notes, and data are permanently deleted. (Account deletion is available to registered users; guest sessions are stored only on your device.)
- Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. All your boards, notes, and content will be deleted and cannot be recovered.
- You may alternatively request deletion by contacting us at rexstudyapp@gmail.com.
- Deleting the Rex app from your device does not by itself delete your account on our servers — use Profile → Delete Account to remove your account data.
- If you have an active paid subscription, cancel it separately through the Apple App Store, as deleting your account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription.
16. Termination by Rex
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your access to Rex at our sole discretion, at any time, with or without prior notice, for any reason including but not limited to:
- Violation of this User Agreement, our Terms of Service, or Privacy Policy.
- Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.
- Conduct that is harmful to other users or to Rex's reputation, systems, or personnel.
- Requests from law enforcement or regulatory authorities.
- Extended periods of inactivity (we will attempt to notify you before terminating an inactive account).
Upon termination, your right to use Rex immediately ceases. We are not liable to you for any termination. If your account is terminated for cause, you are not entitled to a refund of any paid subscription fees.
17. No Professional Advice
Nothing in Rex — including AI tutor responses, chart widgets, educational content, or any other feature — constitutes or should be construed as:
- Legal advice or legal services.
- Medical or health advice.
- Financial, investment, or tax advice.
- Psychological or mental health counseling.
- Any other form of licensed professional advice.
Always seek the guidance of qualified professionals for decisions in these areas. Rex expressly disclaims any liability for reliance on Rex content as professional advice.
18. Beta Features
From time to time, Rex may offer beta or early-access features that are still in development. If you use beta features:
- Beta features are provided "as is" with no guarantees of stability, accuracy, or continuity.
- Beta features may be discontinued at any time without notice.
- You acknowledge that beta features may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete functionality.
- Feedback on beta features is especially welcome and helps us improve Rex.
19. Entire Agreement
This User Agreement, together with the Rex Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, constitutes the complete and exclusive agreement between you and Rex with respect to your use of the Service, and supersedes all prior agreements, representations, and understandings, whether written or oral. In the event of a conflict between this User Agreement and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall control.
